Neerlandia Urk is actively contributing to a more sustainable fish industry by fully committed to recyclable EPS packaging and maximizing reuse to reduce waste. We reduce our waste streams by entering into strategic partnerships, such as with the Foundation Against Food Waste. All by-products from our fish processing get a new purpose at a plant in Rastede, where they are turned into valuable products. With our advanced water treatment systems, we ensure minimal impact on the aquatic environment. Furthermore, we minimize on the use of packaging materials, energy and water. These measures demonstrate how Neerlandia Urk responsibly and actively contributes to sustainability within the fish industry.
Packaging recycling
We work with EPS, cardboard and plastic packaging that is easily recyclable.

We work with STV (Foundation Against Food Waste) and we minimize waste.
Utilizing fish residues
All residual products are manufactured at a plant in Rastede, Germany. This is where parts are processed and frozen.

The MSC label stands for Marine Stewardship Council and guarantees that seafood comes from fisheries that are sustainably managed and have responsible fishing practices. This helps protect fish stocks and the marine ecosystem for future generations.
The ASC certification stands for Aquaculture Stewardship Council and certifies that seafood comes from farms that maintain high standards in environmentally and socially responsible aquaculture management. It ensures the minimization of environmental impact and promotes the welfare of the local community around the fish farms.
The European organic label indicates that a product meets the European Union’s strict regulations for organic production. It symbolizes that the production process is focused on environmental protection, animal welfare and the preservation of biodiversity.
The EU organic label guarantees that products meet EU standards for organic farming, focusing on ecological sustainability and the preservation of biodiversity. BRCS certification serves as confirmation that food processing plants operate according to internationally recognized food safety quality standards.
The FDA certificate demonstrates our compliance with the standards of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the regulatory authority on food, drugs and health products in the U.S. We are FDA-approved for export, which confirms our compliance with strict consumer protection regulations
The IFS Food certification stands for International Featured Standards in food safety, and is a quality and safety standard for food processing and production of food products. It ensures that production processes meet strict criteria to ensure food safety and quality.
The GLOBALG.A.P. label represents compliance with global standards for good agricultural practices, focusing on food safety, sustainability, and worker and animal welfare within the agricultural sector.

Neerlandia Urk specializes in processing salmon, a nutrient-rich fish with various health benefits. The salmon we process is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, with 1.6 grams per 100 grams, which is good for the cardiovascular system and can reduce inflammation. With 2.32 grams of Omega-6 per 100 grams and an ideal Omega-6/Omega-3 ratio, our salmon also provides an optimal fatty acid balance for a healthy lifestyle. In addition, 0.84 grams of EPA and DHA contribute to brain health and vision. The high protein content of 20.71% supports muscle repair and building, while vitamin D3 and phosphorus, at 0.287 milligrams per kilogram and 0.24 grams per 100 grams, respectively, are essential for strong bones and efficient energy metabolism.
